  1. The season really was kind of a build-up to her leaving. Honestly most of the time the show felt like it was more about her than the Doctor f'I'm being honest.
  2. Well I can imagine in the minds of the viewers the show kept pissing them off. First Tom Baker leaves, which I have to imagine wouldn't have been totally unexpected but still hard for the younger viewers. Then they crowd the TARDIS. Then they shove out an "American" companion who's annoying. Then they cast a mean Doctor who tries to kill her. Then they saddle the show with boring-ass scripts. Then they cast Bonnie Langford. Then they commission "Time and the Rani". I'm not gonna leap onto the JNT hatedom bandwagon, but I can follow the logic that he lead to the downfall of the show.
  3. Wowzers...poor Bonnie Langford. Should blame go to JNT, or the individual writers?
  4. Wrote another essay for the Hooded Utilitarian. It's in some part a response to a series of articles posted on there recently about the concept of black superheroes and how they function in the superhero genre. I'd recommend all of the ones I link to as they're great food for thought. http://www.hoodedutilitarian.com/2015/03/chasing-utopia/
  5. Kingsman: The Secret Service A pretty entertaining and watchable film that completely changes tone halfway through after the second act. It descends into an abject cartoon that repeatedly screams to the audience "THIS IS FROM A MARK MILLAR BOOK".
  6. It's honestly inspiring to me to see my FB blown up with many different people celebrating the man's lifetime. RIP
  7. So pleased to hear you guys are gonna hit Commando. May I make a couple of suggestions for the outro music, both at the height of relevance.
  8. I've not yet seen it, but Brokeback Mountain was huge when it came out and he was acclaimed for his performance. That sounds like a must-see.
  9. I could go with a whole podcast of the three o'youse guys coming up with tough guy 80s names. Punch Brockreyonld or whatever it was broke me.
  10. 50 Shades of Grey: I really wanted this to be a laugh riot, but it was honestly dull and uneventful. Some emotion is riled up in the fact that Christian Grey is obviously an abusive A-hole, but really it's not as gleefully entertaining as Twilight was. MEH.
  11. I watched a lot of anime last year including Kill la Kill, but the one that's currently still stuck in my brain 6 months later in Neon Genesis Evangelion. I watched it for the mind-fuckery aspects, and MAAAANNN did I get it by the end. End of Evangelion is still haunting my dreams as of this day.
  12. I am getting very sick of the washed out color profile shots. Why can't they just show us what these people will look like?
  13. Unfortunately I just saw that the Exec Producer Harris Wittles was discovered dead tonight. http://time.com/3716106/parks-and-recreation-coproducer-harris-wittels-dead/
  14. Boogie Nights, in gearing up for the next Hey! An Actor: This movie is long. It's LAWNNNG. It's really long. It's good, but it feels inexorably long. Wahlberg and pals all do great jobs, but I'm sure this would have more of an effect on me if I saw it back when it first hit in '97. Granted I was 8 years old then, but I think this is a case of seeing other stories like this where going back to the trendsetter of behind-the-seedy scenes types of movies doesn't have that huge effect they once had.
  15. ^I remember at the time it came out that the poster of the film had photoshopped her chest to be larger.
  16. Dunno if it's good to hype up a character only comic fans are familiar with, but Im' still down.
  17. It is such a blessing to have a comic book series with writers who truly know how to modernize and make a property consistently entertaining, keeping us guessing from week to week. As opposed to Gotham.
