  1. Mike's Firestorm review is exactly that: a firestorm of awesome.
  2. The Girl Who Waited was my favorite episode of the season, so I'll be rooting for that.
  3. That would be insane, but totally awesome for Doctor Who. Paul McGann's only 52, and he does look great. In any case I do think he needs to have a crossover story with 11 or 12 down the line because his Doctor deserves it. But yeah, the idea that we could see a future Doctor causing a past one's regeneration is really awesome.

    DC reboot

I'm reading all of the Bat-Books as per requirement for the Batman Universe Comic-Cast, but out of all of them I'm only digging Batman at this point. Batman and Robin was solid until #7 where Peter Tomasi went nucking futs and out of control. Batwoman's not a bad book, but not terribly interesting currently. Nightwing's a missed opportunity. Batwing's mediocre and uninspired. Batgirl's still vicious betrayal, and generall sucks out loud all around. The Dark Knight is a jumbled mess. Detective Comics features Tony Daniel's total incompetance at writing Batman. The fact that so many creators have jumped ship, the continuity seems to be just thrown together, the stories generally aren't very interesting AND on top of all that, the flagerant sexism is just abundant in the books has taken its toll. I agree with Mike, the reboot was a failure. It served as a get-rich-quick scheme that petered out 5 months in. Everything about it feels like the people involved thought this up over a weekend as opposed to months and months in advance, and when I asked Grant Morrison about it at SDCC last summer, he all but confirmed it. It's just frustrating.
  5. I also love Dan's impressions of the Cyberleader. The episode covering "Earthshock" is one of my favorites in part due to that. Every time the Cyberleader is impersonated, I LOL.
  6. Great stuff as always! But when did you review Thor? I've been waiting for your thoughts on that..!
  7. I nominate the obvious and not very well thought out, as it's 3:00 a.m. currently. Best moment from each Doctor/Doctor's era Best quote from each Doctor Favorite Companion for each Doctor Cheesiest moment from the Classic series, TOP 5 Most violent moment from the Hinchcliffe/Holmes or JNT/Sayward era Best/Worst premiere episode for a Doctor Favorite era/least Favorite era "She had it coming" Awards for the most attractive companion. 8. Tennant into Smith. Saw it out of curiosity due to the internet hype right after The End of Time aired, and went back to see what all the hubub was about. By the time I got back to the regeneration, I was full of emotion.
  9. They say that's Jenna-Louise Coleman was in Captain America, can anybody remember who she played?
  10. Oh wow, were all these done around the same time? Tom Baker looks like has hasn't changed at all, but in Dimensions in Time he seems to have aged 20 years.
  11. You spoke of the added adult content in the books and how most of the characters save for the Doctor were swearing and killing and such. What did they do to the Doctor's character exactly?
  12. Oh wow, that was awesome!

More of John Rozum's confessions on how Static and his run as writer was treated by DC. http://johnrozum.blogspot.com/2012/01/why-i-quit-static-shock.html Effin' betrayal.
  14. Saw the prologue tonight, it was fantastic. Worst part about it is Bane's voice be slightly unintelligible, but I still like it and am hyped for this movie!
  15. I thought the switched format proved to be pretty beneficial to the overall show! I've always liked the main actors throughout the series (possibly because they're my age if slightly younger) and appreciated Emma Watson get some props. As a lifelong arachnaphobe, I can attest to this being hell to watch as was the last movie. I read the books beforehand, so I knew where to expect the spiders. I'm curious as to why you think the 5th book was crap Ian..!
  16. I'm glad you altered your score for Red Outlaws, because the book has remained to be pervasively sexist. The fact that Starfire enjoys sex isn't the problem. The fact that she can't tell the difference between partners and has a super-short term memory WHILST being especially sex hungry is the problem. I hated Catwoman, but I freely admit that is owed to my preference towards how Batman was written, not so much Selina. But Red Outlaws is a vapid, vacuous comic book. IMO.
  17. HO, this should be good...
  18. ^Like a boss. I'm excited for this new episode! I've been listening to BOTI a ton for the past month and am finding myself hooked!
  19. The embargo was due to the Batman cartoon show IIRC. It's a good question though. I imagine it only applied to character The Batman was definitely going to use. They could've signed off on the Huntress.

I still hate Catwoman. It was better than the previous issue, but honestly the very end offended me. The way Selina got brutalized, and how she was posed with her butt in the air and her bloody face...that was incredibly offensive to me. Nightwing I thought was a step down. The story was very haphazard with the whole Haly revolution that he's known Dick was a crimefighter all along, but never told anyone...until the very next scene where he does. It was too big of an info-dump and the characters just move around to shift information. They don't act as though they have any history. Batman, solid as ever. Justice League I thought was a genuine step UP from the first issue. Teh action and plot is fast paced, the League starts coming together as opposed to what I feared was going to be another tired Superman vs. Batman circle jerk. And the ending was a solid cliffhanger. Big improvement from issue one IMO.
