The story:

Jeff Hardy -- one half of the WWE tag team duo The Hardy Boyz -- was busted today after cops found a boatload of pills and steroids inside his home.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at Hardy's home in Cameron, NC today -- where they found 262 Vicodin pills, 180 Soma pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids and a residual amount of powder cocaine. Cops say the estimated street value of the drugs: $2,500.

Hardy was arrested on charges of "trafficking in controlled prescription pills" and possession of anabolic steroids.

Chief Deputy Neil Godfrey told us Jeff's brother posted bail, which was set at $125,000.

The timing is interesting, as this would be his third strike if he hadn't quit the WWE.

If it comes out that Hardy is guilty, then Jericho looks like an idiot, and by association so does the WWE. When you are a public face of a corporation, you should keep quiet until all the facts are out. The man has prior drug problems, so why should we give him any benefit of the doubt? He had cocaine in his house.

Update on the Angelina Love thing - basically, she's fucked.

The problem wasn't that she let her visa expire, it's that after her WWE release, she never got a new one to work for TNA, meaning that she's been without a work visa for over two years now. If she's charged by the court, not only would she be banned from entering the United States for ten years, but she'll also have to pay back all of the money that she's earned during her TNA career, making her essentially homeless.

Angel, honey... get a good lawyer.

Remember how I said it was a bad idea to have the basis of CM Punk's heel character be that he abstains from all alcohol, tobacco and drugs? He even was mocking the fans for reaching for the "extra strength painkillers" when they have a headache. (With that attitude, he could work for the FDA and help them implement reducing the maximum dose of acetaminophen from 1000 mg to 650 mg.)

He's the bad guy because he doesn't use drugs. Jeff Hardy was the good guy, he has used drugs, and punk mocked him as an enabler for the fans. Jeff leaves WWE, and then gets arrested for drug trafficking.

Have Punk be a heel character, great. But for crying out loud, stop making the "straight edge" lifestyle the basis for him being a heel. I'm telling you, WWE is going to see this blow up in their face in the media. I'm surprised Brent Bozell has not already ripped into them.

Politically, this is just stupid. It's like they're asking to be lambasted by the news media (which hates and doesn't know the first thing about pro wrestling anyway) followed by harassment from the federal government. We've already seen CNN butcher a video interview with John Cena a couple years ago to make him look like he was using steroids. Imagine what they'll do with this.

So Cena is champ again....yawn.

About the work visa thing. It doesn't matter that she switched companies. I have a friend from Canada that switched jobs, and he didn't have to get a new visa for every job. She should be allowed to work as long as her visa is still active. Otherwise she never would have been able to work for TNA to begin with.

As for Punk. I think it's funny that a family show has a champ talking about not doing drugs and drinking, and having him play the bad guy. Even when he was a baby face I wondered why they were doing the straight edge thing. Isn't that what all their super stars are supposed to be, or are they implying that they are all on drugs?

Its TNA's fault really. WWE takes care of this stuff for their guys, but TNA puts in on the talent to do so and yet still demands that they meet dates and cross the border without verifying their right to work details properly themselves. Its very tough for working talent to turn down a consistent gig when they system they have is working.

In most cases, yes. But from what I understand, once she was released from WWE, whatever she had under them - temporary visa or whatever, was nulled when she was released.

It is amazing that it took two odd years of her crossing the border back and forth before it finally caught up to her though.

World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Resigns to Run for Senate

By MIKE BARRIS

World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. Chief Executive Linda McMahon stepped down from her post, one day after joining the increasingly crowded Republican field looking to run against Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will assume the additional duties of CEO, supported by "the seasoned executive management team already in place," the wresting entertainment and media company said.

The announcement came as WWE grapples with the weak economy and competition from sports such as kickboxing. Still, WWE's profit nearly tripled in the latest quarter amid cost cuts as revenue rose 7%.

Ms. McMahon, 60 years old, is the fourth Republican to declare her candidacy, following former Rep. Rob Simmons, state Sen. Sam Caligiuri and former U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Tom Foley. Mr. Dodd will be seeking a sixth term in next year's election.

The incumbent has had shaky poll numbers for some time despite Connecticut's being solidly Democratic. Mr. Simmons has led Mr. Dodd in polls for months, with analysts citing the senator's dealings with Countrywide Financial. The onetime mortgage giant, which was sold to Bank of America Corp. last year as the credit markets slumped, gave Mr. Dodd below-market-rate mortgages, something the senator has said he didn't know about.

Mr. Dodd is chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and has had good relationships with the financial industry. With many Americans upset at the industry, that could prove a liability in the coming election, analysts have said.
