Dread
I saw this on Netflix and had to comment- Why have I not heard of this before? What if a 1980s American aircraft carrier (with its modern firepower) time-warped back to Pacific waters just outside Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941? That's the intriguing premise behind this sci-fi adventure that stars Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen. I'm so watching this later. Surprisingly good movie and it also stars Lloyd Kaufman! JackFetch
It's been awhile since I've seen it, but wasn't it more about them making the choice whether to change history or not? It isn't an action movie.

It isn't an action movie. True, but the sheer amount of pro-military shots of their hardware and planes makes it odd that the action quotient was so low. I mean seriously, we're talking Top Gun levels of military porn here. That imagery doesn't key you up for a film about tip-toeing around changing the timeline. In any case the debate they had wasn't that great, they had to pad it out with a bunch of other stuff like the Zero pilot and the survivors of the senators boat. Venneh
Looking forward to Saturday. Have tickets booked for Anna Karenina and the Hobbit at the local theater that also happens to have fancy reserved seating and alcohol. Dread
I'm taking my sons to the local theatre Saturday morning because it's playing A Charlie Brown Christmas and the Rankin Bass Rudolph back to back.
dc20willsave
I wish my local theater did that, Des. So lucky.
Dread
Well, it's a once a year thing (usually it's the Ron Howard Grinch movie) and doesn't make up for the shitty seats and lack of decent films, but it's something.

Dread
They've seen Rudolph umpteen million times and own the Wii game (I bought the Rankin Bass boxset before Davin was old enough to walk) but I'm not sure if they've seen the Charlie Brown one. We don't own it and we don't have cable.
Venneh
Well, apparently the same theater that Im at for Anna Karenina and Hobbit is doing something similar for stuff like a Miracle on 34th, It's a Wonderful Life, and Christmas Story, with digital restoration, which is kinda neat. Between movie thoughts on Anna Karenina: Tom Stoppard wrote this, and it's really evident throughout. This is definitely rooted in theater language, and if you haven't seen one of his plays, you might be at a disadvantage going into this. That said, it's definitely not gonna be for everyone. Still processing it, so Im not sure how to feel about it. It definitely takes major risks with how they staged it.

SuaveStar
Scary Movie 5 looks horrible. For people outside the US to see the trailer. The last two were awful, and it looks like five is no exception.
dc20willsave
The stupid parody movies usually at least make fun of recent movies. Black Swan came out two years ago and there have already been Paranormal Activity parody films. This thing is going to bomb hardcore at the box-office, especially since it comes out the same weekend at Oblivion, the Tom Cruise special effects movie. JackFetch
Kurt Sutter is a loose cannon, and I love it. AMC is run by small-minded, bottom-line thinkers who have no appreciation or gratitude for the effort of it's creative personnel. Time and time again we see events like what happened today with Glen Mazzara. They continue to disrespect writers, sh*t on their audience and bury their network. Mazzara took the work-in-progress that was "Walking Dead" and turned it into a viable TV show with a future. Without him, that future is dim. Showrunners are not development executives, we're not cookiecutter douchebags that you plug into a preexisting model. TWD will suffer. Even Zombies need consistency. "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad" will be gone soon. So will AMC. I hope their f**king stock takes a dive and the shareholders line up Sapan, Dolan and Collier and sh*t in their open hands. C*nts. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/22/the-walking-dead-season-4-drama-kurt-sutter-others-blast-amc_n_2352214.html
Stavros
Walking Dead looks incredibly unstable, what other show has been dicked around this much in the creative department? AMC's management is looking like Chelsea owners.
Koete
You'd think they would be more accommodating since the Walking Dead is killing even network shows in the ratings.
JackFetch
There is only so much crap someone can take from a network like AMC. They slashed their budget to keep Mad Men around. We don't know what the real story here is yet.
