Aaron Robinson
Slowly listening to more and more hip hop. I've spent the past few weeks constantly listening to The Root's Rising Down and Game Plan, and this weekend I bought GZA's Liquid Swords, Common's Like Water for Chocolate and Danger Doom's The Mouse and the Mask. And I like this track enough that I'll be buying Ghostface Killah's Fishscale http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf_BsCiJ6Sc
Guest
Hip Hop/Rap probably composes about 40% of what I listen to these days. Never bothered to share most of it, since this didn't seem like the crowd, but if anyone wants some suggestions... Swollen Members Lady Sovereign And for those that don't mind a language barrier.. Deichkind (They're fucking weird, and I love them.)
Aaron Robinson
Yep, they’re quite popular down here. They’re also one of the few Australian hip hop groups I can stand. And I’ll take on your other suggestions too. I’ve listened to a bit of Aesop Rock and Atmosphere, and Lady Sovereign gets a fair amount of radio play here, but the rest I’m unfamiliar with. Dread
I could have easily guessed Dubs was an Atmosphere fan. I've performed onstage with the Swollen Members. Been listening to new Monster Magnet, Hellsongs and GWAR. Yeah!

Dread
That wasn't meant as a joke, but I suppose both are true. Depends on how low-cut the shirts were on the ladies in the front row.
Venneh
Found the Black Swan soundtrack, listening to it as I honestly don't know when I'm going to come across it. Found the track they use over the trailer. It's even more surreal in its full form.
Guest
You know what's missing from music these days? Epic fucking mustaches.
dc20willsave
MegaRan is apparently releasing a FF7 Album.
Guest
Yeah, I was going to end this week's episode with that. Completely forgot. Random is the one person that could make me give a shit about FF7.
James D.
What Separates Me From You - A Day to Remember I love this band. And this album is intense.

Guest
Abney Park - Can't believe it's taken me this long to discover them. Mixes steampunk, industrial, and even a little bit of folk without leaning into the unlistenable. Highly recommended. Missy Higgins - Starting to develop a real love for Australian singer-songwriters. Hannah Fury - An ethereal force of creepiness combined with a feeling of bat-shit insanity that makes her hard to ignore. Everything she does sounds like a sexy carnival of nightmares. Plus, she wrote a song about Man-Thing. The Birthday Massacre - Hey look, a band with a hot lead singer that didn't completely fall to shit after a few years. Loved them ever since I first heard "Looking Glass".
Guest
Busdriver - Insane underground hip hop. No one else out there that sounds anything like him. One to check out is Unemployed Black Astronaut.

Guest
Indukti - Prog band from Poland that uses an violinist to launch already impressive instrumentals into another stratosphere.

Guest
Lillian Axe - Didn't think there were many 80s hair metal bands left for me to discover. What sets them apart is that they could have easily written a lot of the same songs in the modern era. Children of Bodom - A band that I find myself constantly going back and forth on. Powerful at their best, redundant at their worst.
MaxPower
Our alternate/youth radio station Triple J is doing their annual 'Hottest 100' songs countdown. I rarely listen to the station nowadays but the songs aren't too bad at all for the most part.
dc20willsave
Talking about musicals in Chat with Preston and Venneh has caused me to relisten to Bat Boy the Musical. Who would have thought one of the best musicals of the last decade would be based off of a character from the fucking World Weekly News? It works as a serious musical, a comedy, and a parody and reversal of traditional and Disney musicals. Doesn't hurt that the music is pretty good. Guest
This past week has me convinced that acid jazz is the fucking greatest thing to happen to music since the invention of music.
dc20willsave
Lady Gaga's new single, Born This Way, dropped today. It's not Bad Romance but it's still pretty spectacular. At the very least, the song is going to live on as a Pride anthem for the next few years.
