Pan-dub
There's no way it's not going to get distributed somehow - especially now it's a hot, elusive property that has everyone talking.
dc20willsave
Well, yeah. The studio would lose a ton a money if it never gets released. It'll at least get digital distribution but that'll barely make a profit. I figure they'll go for a smaller release in a few months. Still annoying. KnightWing
Well, yeah. The studio would lose a ton a money if it never gets released.About $40 mil, which is probably less than what the hack cost them. They might not want to risk playing with fire, especially if they won't get back a ton of money from box office profits now anyway.
dc20willsave
Except the movie might make more money now. You'd be surprised the number of people on Twitter and Facebook that I've seen who are saying that they wouldn't see the movie before but now want to. The more I think on it, this is a short term win for whoever hacked because they've ensured that many more people go and see it now.
dc20willsave
And, in the a beautiful move of Trolldom, the Alamo Drafthouse is going to show Team America on Christmas instead of their showing of the now canceled The Interview. Dread
America just lost a cyberwar with a country that has trouble keeping the lights on in its capital city.

JackFetch
Sony is really fucked here. They are going to lose at least half a billion dollars thanks to all the infrastructure they have to install and all the lawsuits. That's not even counting how many projects will never get made now because of it. It's going to be at least a decade before people stop associating the Sony name with the hack. The guys at the top aren't even getting symbolically fired over it, and this isn't the first time it's happened to them.
dc20willsave
I'm taking a break from editing and hang out with a houseguest we currently have for a bit. We watch some Stargate SG-1, the episode Emancipation to be precise. It's fucking terrible but, more importatly, I felt like it was very familiar ground (Female Officer Taken Captive, Forced into a repressive society, She later has to fight to the death) so I look up the writer. Kathryn Powers also wrote an episode of Star Trek The Next Generation, Code of Honor. It's one thing to repurpose scripts. It's another thing to reuse the script for possibly the worst episode in a series and reuse it for another series and not even make any improvements. JackFetch
Syfy announced today that it is developing a one-hour drama series about a futuristic prison society, “51st State,” from Fox 21 Television Studios. Oscar nominee Craig Borten (Dallas Buyers Club), who sold the pitch to Syfy, will write the pilot. Peter Chernin (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Katherine Pope (“New Girl”) and Borten will serve as executive producers. As “51st State” unfolds, the United States, confronting a prison population stretched to the limit, purchases Greenland and converts it into a frontier prison colony with male and female convicts incarcerated together. Promised conditional freedom, the inmates are driven to the edge of their humanity when that promise, along with others, is broken. Struggling to seize control and exact revenge, reluctant heroes emerge — but what exactly are they fighting for? Wait, you can just buy another country? Who are you buying it from? Venneh
Richard Armitage will be Hannibal's Francis Dolarhyde. Fuuuuuuuucking hell.
Koete
I like Armitage well enough and Fuller has only had a few missteps, but yeah, I'm pretty apprehensive about this.
Dread
It's a character that's been portrayed 2 very different ways by two very different actors already, so I'm excited to see how this pans out. Fuller changed the Vergers radically and they were even better than the book, so there's that.
Stavros
But at the point of Red Dragon Hannibal had been caught. Is he going to be behind bars for that arc, or can they find another way to keep him actively involved?
Koete
They can do backstory and the first murder before the events of Red Dragon. But also, they've changed up the mythology before and maybe Hannibal won't be free for the whole season. It'll be interesting to see what they do. Dread
Or...Red Dragon doesn't REALLY begin until halfway through the season. The last season proved that a shitload can happen in the span of six episodes.
Koete
We're also getting Will's wife Molly during the season. Definitely setting up the pieces for Red Dragon.

dc20willsave
That's what I thought when I saw it. It's an hour long and will do nicely in tiding me over until season 6 (which will hopefully be later this year).

dc20willsave
Two things: 1) Last night's episode of The Venture Brothers was well worth the wait. 2) After you watch it, there's an epilogue on Adult Swim's website that includes a trailer for Season 6.
