Missy
As much as I don't think Robin will work in a Nolan-directed Batman film, he'd make a good Dick Grayson. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if he's the new DA or ADA, considering both are dead.
dc20willsave
It's a job where you're corrupt or you die. It's like being the Defense Against The Dark Arts professor at Hogworts. Overall though, this news thrills me. Means the door is open for the villain of the film to be Crazy Quilt.
You Know Who
It's a job where you're corrupt or you die. It's like being the Defense Against The Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts. A very apt analogy.
KnightWing
Means the door is open for the villain of the film to be Crazy Quilt. Okay, no. There is NO WAY that would EVER fit in with Nolan's realistic vision of Batman. It has to be Killer Moth.
JackFetch
My first Batman book ever was a Crazy Quilt issue.

What this film needs to ground it in the real world is Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, Mad Hatter, and Clayface.

Delete
I just hope he isn't Azrael. Not even Nolan can make that character not suck.
JackFetch
It's confirmed that Juno Temple is in the movie as a "street-smart Gotham girl". http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118034377?categoryid=4076&cs=1&cmpid=RSS|News|LatestNews
dc20willsave
Not to start speculation, but she kinda looks like Harley or Holly Robinson.

Missy
Looks like it will be filmed in Pittsburgh rather than Chicago.
Venneh
But! I wanted to go down at some point and kind of sort of stalk the production! Oh well, I can do that with the new Supes movie instead. xD
Koete
Spoilerific casting Josh Pence, who played opposite Armie Hammer as Tyler Winklevoss in The Social Network (where Hammer's face was superimposed on his), has been cast as a young Ra's Al Ghul in Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan's new Batman movie. The movie's casting has been ultra-secret, although Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman are returning to lead a caped crusading cast, which includes Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cottilard. The story line has also been kept locked up in the Batcave but Pence's casting throws more than a few crumbs to follow. Ra's Al Ghul was played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins, thus paving the way for a possible return of the supposedly dead character. Also, while the studio never confirmed Cottilard's character, it has been rumored to be that of Thalia Al Ghul, the daughter of Batman's mentor-turned-enemy. Sources say Pence will appear in scenes that take place 30 years prior to the present story. Pence, repped by Innovative Artists and Industry Entertainment, recently wrapped Battleship, Universal's big-budget action movie based on the board game, and indie political thriller The Algerian. Delete
Exactly how long is this movie going to be?
Stavros
I didn't see Michael Caine on that cast list. I presume that's a mistake.
slothian
That or it's another non-story. Not only does a Batman film need Alfred, but a Nolan film normally needs a Michael Caine character - he's beeen in all of them since Batman Begins! Source Hmmmm...this is better news than I had expected (when I saw the spoiler tag I thought it'd be revealing that Talia is in the film and thought "O God no"). I'll bet it involves Bane's origin and the League of Shadows setting him up from birth to be a weapon, but we'll see.
KnightWing
Could also involve Ra's meeting his wife and/or joining the League, thus setting up Talia.
You Know Who
Could also involve Ra's meeting his wife and/or joining the League, thus setting up Talia. That is equally likely, but I will hope that that is not the case.
JackFetch
I'm betting the way they get around the magical aspect is he's a clone.
KnightWing
I'm pretty sure that since he's a "young" Ra's, he'll just be in flashbacks. Though if they were to bring him back in present-day, I think that the mystical angle is actually a little more in line with this version of the universe than cloning is. There is no reason to have a young version in flashbacks since Bruce didn't meet him until he was older. Why would the movie focus so much on Talia's backstory when it never did that for anyone else? Magic is more in line than technology in a Nolan film? Really?
Donomark
I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he returned because, hey, the movie just aren't realistic. More believable than the conventional comic book film, sure. But realiatic? No. So him coming back wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. If they're dealing with the League of Shadows and/or Ra's' family history, a flashback would make sense. At this point, cloning is as unreal as magic. And hey, they can always go with a more vague or spiritual interpretation of Ras's rebirth, rather than actually showing them dumping his body in a Lazarus pit. (though that would be cool).
