KnightWing
Wow. Aside from the shield, that's the classic suit design down to a tee, even moreso than Returns did it. The only thing I don't really like is the hair, but I can live with it. Also, that photo's been severely desaturated; I upped the saturation on it to what seems like normal levels: Nice. Missy
Look at his right leg. I think there might be some piping running down the side. I like the long, cloth cape.
Dan
I like the old, Earth-2 S-shield. And the boots are perfect.
You Know Who
Looks good apart from the hair and the fact that the S-shield seems to be made of the same material as his shirt and tights.
Guest
I like the fingernails. Well manicured, just like the comics.
Missy
Here he is as Clark, minus the glasses: On one level, I like it. Yet, on another, I have my reservations. The positives Something about the way his Clark looks reminds me of the Silver Age Superman, but I can't put my finger on it. Clark, being a farmboy, should be bulky. The negative However, he needs to hide his frame under ill-fitting clothes, otherwise the disguise doesn't work. That said, I can get over his clothes being properly fitted if Cavill, like Christopher Reeve, plays the parts distinctly different. Reeve made the silliest disguise in the world (RE: glasses) believable because his body language as Clark was the complete opposite of the way he played Superman. And that's what I want here. Missy
I just realized something: You can't really tell if he's wearing the red underwear in the promotional image.
Dan
Yeah, I picked up on that too. We shall see, I suppose. However, the rest of the costume seems to be bending over backwards to be relatively comics-faithful.
KnightWing
He's got the spit curl in the Clark photo, but not as Superman. huh. I wonder if that Clark photo is him in-between Clark and Superman, i.e. him doing the shirt pull.

Missy
Clark doesn't have to be a dork, but to make the glasses work, he has to be played differently than Superman. There has to be something about Clark that puts off the suspicion that, despite looking exactly like Superman, he isn't the hero.
slothian
....we're critiquing a picture now?? Seriously?
Missy
We're not judging the film based on the image; we're simply trying to glean all we can from these two images. Nothing wrong with that.
You Know Who
....we're critiquing a picture now?? Seriously? Yup. People are critiquing pictures of Bane on The Dark Knight Rises thread as well.
MaxPower
It's what made Reeves performances so good, he nailed both Clark and Supes. His Clark was nervous, shy, but still had that reliable best friend nature about it. And his Supes just made all your worries wash away with his confidence and focus to get things done. Oh and here is the new Superman...
dc20willsave
Honestly, I'm liking everything I'm seeing. It's all pretty cool. It looks like the Clark pic is a candid, not a promo shot like the other. I'm sure he'll get down the body language when the time comes. Vaguely off-topic, it's nice to have a Superman in the suit. JackFetch
The cape is very large and elaborate, but he looks good in the suit. Not sure he looks like Supes facially in this pic but if he can act that won't matter.
Missy
With the split down the middle, this looks like it was scanned from a magazine, but I'm not convinced it's real. The lighting on Amy Adams' face doesn't really match the way the rest of her body is lit. Same with Cavill, now that I look at it. Plus, everything in the pictures looks like it's out of the 1950s or 60s.
MaxPower
He looks like Brendan Fraser in that pic.
JackFetch
They seem to be doing staged promo shots for this, so chances are that image is real.
TDK_theBatmaN
Plus, everything in the pictures looks like it's out of the 1950s or 60s. I believe they are going for the 50s and 60s costume design.
JackFetch
A casting call included a synopsis of the movie: In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as "Superman," not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves. Nothing too big about the plot except that it sounds like a total reboot and is about him actually becoming Superman.
KnightWing
Yeah, that jives with what's been long-rumored: it's him in his "early days." Sounds like an origin story from a character perspective rather than a plot one like in the 1978 film.
Molly
Sounds good to me.
JackFetch
If you don't want to see what Supes looks like(spoiler, he's buff as hell), or what one of the main villains looks like, don't click: Why is Superman's package so prominent?
