Molly
I like Colbert a lot, but this feels like a mistake. His character can't really maintain a celebrity talk show, and if CBS didn't want the character, why hire Colbert at all?
Dan
Colbert is an exceptionally smart and funny guy, as well as being personable and quick-witted. He will in all likelihood be an excellent straight-up host without the character (which it sounds like he is retiring). Which apparently means Craig Fergusion will get a nice payday for not being offered the job. Which is good; he's also funny, but his sense of humor doesn't work in the earlier time slot. Stavros
Colbert as a character feels worn out, but as a personality he has plenty to offer. It's the smart choice for Late Show.

Dread
Whew! I was worried that the job wouldn't go to a middle-aged white guy for a minute.
dc20willsave
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFly-k-OK2w Considering how the first one was actually a pretty damn fine movie, I can dig this.

JackFetch
SyFy doing an actual sci fi series? Syfy has given a straight-to-series greenlight for space-opera project "The Expanse," it was announced by Syfy President, Dave Howe. The 10-episode order is Syfy's boldest new series commitment to date. "The Expanse" is produced by Alcon Television Group (ATG), a division of Alcon Entertainment, and marks the company's first series order. Academy Award-nominated screenwriting duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man) wrote the pilot; they will continue to serve as writers, as well as executive producers. A thriller set two hundred years in the future, "The Expanse" follows the case of a missing young woman who brings a hardened detective and a rogue ship's captain together in a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history. Said Howe, "'The Expanse' is epic in scale and scope and promises to be Syfy's most ambitious series to date. Bringing this coveted book franchise to television with our partners at Alcon and the Sean Daniel Company is a giant win for Syfy, reinforcing our overall strategy to produce bold, provocative and compelling sci-fi fantasy stories. 'The Expanse' joins a killer line-up of high-concept, high quality series, along with recently announced original projects 'Ascension,' '12 Monkeys,' the renewal of 'Helix,' and the soon to premiere 'Dominion.'" http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=117098

Professor
The CBS shake-up continues as Craig Ferguson announces that he's leaving in December 2014. http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/craig-ferguson-i-wanted-to-leave-the-show-before-i-stopped-enjoying-it-exclusive-1201166239/ While I will miss Craig, I don't find this too unexpected. The last few months have been kinda off, which I just chalked up to the odd taping schedule. But looking back with context, it all makes sense now. And I for one await the Late Late Show with Geoff Peterson in 2015. Because why not.
