Looking good. It'll be stretch to match the original, but this is one remake of a classic that I'm happy to see attempted.

Beats Disney paying Michael Bay to produce a $200,000 dollar big screen version of Punch and Judy. Featuring John Malkovich as the Crocodile.

Americans wouldn't know a good movie if it kicked them in the balls.

Beat by Despicable Me 2 and Adam Sandler's ensemble comedy Grown Ups 2, Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim failed to do monster business in its North American debut, posing a potential financial loss for Thomas Tull's Legendary Pictures.

Pacifc Rim opened to $38.3 million, a troubling number considering the movie's production budget of at least $190 million. Legendary footed most of the bill, with distribution and marketing partner Warner Bros. putting up a minority stake. Rolling out in its first 38 foreign markets, the 3D tentpole took in $53 million for a worldwide total of $91.3 million. While strong in Asia, Russia and Mexico, Pacific Rim was soft elsewhere.

The good news is that Pacific Rim has already made $91 million worldwide.

I'd watch that movie. Twice.

I must admit that if it were to be made, that's the way to do it.

I would actually love Vin Diesel as Groot. One problem I've had with all of these "Vin Diesel has a meeting at Marvel" rumors is that Diesel's on screen presence might over shadow anyone he played at. However, with his voice, he would be great for an all CGI character.

He's the Iron Giant. He can voice whoever he wants.

Please be good.

The director is a wildcard, but everything I'm reading is that they're trying to be the complete opposite of the 98 movie. And Godzilla is actually going to fight other monsters this time.

Sorry, but even if titled something else I'd have problems with it. It's another Emmerich deal based around an abandoned romance and a ton of comedic supporting characters rather than actually concentrating on the horror of what's occurring. His style of filmmaking is highly distinct but really unsatisfying to me.

Yeah, sorry. Didn't mean to imply it would have been a good movie, just that I wouldn't have had any investment in it and would have just ignored it like I typically do with anything Roland Emmerich puts his name on.
