Molly
JMS is, as countless other examples show, a fucking idiot.
Stavros
Wait, he doesn't want it on Netflix? Jesus, that's the only way I'd bother to watch it.

SuaveStar
For everyone in the UK, Lovefilm has received access to Warner's animated superhero shows. Yay! What Mr Wilson said.
Venneh
Absolute speculation, but Disney's in talks with Katee Sackoff for something. Maybe Carol?
KnightWing
I'm all for her being in the Marvel U, but can she hold an entire movie of Ms. Marvel-scale on her own, though?
Dan
Captain Marvel actually makes a perfect bridge between the Avengers and the more cosmic-scale Guardians.
Koete
I'm all for her being in the Marvel U, but can she hold an entire movie of Ms. Marvel-scale on her own, though? Why wouldn't she be able to?
Venneh
KW, you've seen BSG, right?
KnightWing
Of course. But that was a pretty "grounded" story. I've seen Sackhoff play lots of serious and nuanced action characters, but I just wonder if she can play something as broad as a character like Ms. Marvel. I mean, the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are practically cartoon characters compared to Kara Thrace. I'm not saying she can't do it, I'm just curious. dc20willsave
I'm all for that. It also makes sense for their approach of taking smaller actors and grabbing them before they explode.
Stavros
This might be blasphemy, but I don't think Howard the Duck is anything special in terms of it's badness. It's just regular 80's bad. In the same vein, LXG, which a bizarre adaptation of the source material, is merely ordinary bad. That is to say, it's a bland hero team film but not without aspects to recommend it. Although I wouldn't actually recommend it. Having watch Cool as Ice last night my definition horrible is rather neatly calibrated.
slothian
Meanwhile, I can assure everyone that The Spirit is still utter garbage. I'll give myself a slight break, then it's Supergirl time....
Stavros
I've also got Rise of the Silver Surfer and Faust Love of the Damned out of the way. You won't be able to complain that I haven't done my legwork this time Wilson!

She's an alcoholic military officer bestowed with cosmic power. That isn't too broad. She's like a cross between Hal Jordan and Iron Man, but, you know, a chick. KnightWing
Yes, but she was still played very serious and realistic for the most part. That was the whole deal with BSG: epic mythological science fiction played like a modern-era Western sociopolitical drama.
dc20willsave
Towards the end, yes, Starbuck becomes bigger than life but most of the series, she a very grounded pilot who also has a fucking giant self-destructive streak, periods of self-loathing, and is often an incredibly selfish person who uses people until they stop living up to her preconceived notion of who she wants them to be and how they should be interacting with her. Along the same lines, she only has one stable relationship with another character (Captain Adama) and that's partially supported by a lie. That said, through all of this, she was still dedicated to being that pilot, being a person who consistently came through for her people, and a person who, in the end, would sacrifice herself if it meant saving other. Just based off of that, if anyone can play a character like Captain Marvel, Katie Sackhoff can do it.
Dread
Ummm....Knightwing, I was talking about Carol Danvers, not Katie Sackhoff's character in BSG.
Stavros
She's mostly known for playing an alcoholic military officer who is later imbued with cosmic power, I just don't see her having the range to play an alcoholic military officer who is later imbued with cosmic power. JackFetch
I don't care who she plays. I just want to see Sackhoff as a superhero.
Dread
When I was making my point I was boiling down Danvers. I didn't even know Starbuck was alcoholic or even had any power.
