You Know Who
No he doesn't. He added nothing to the role. Get a fresh face who isn't a Christopher Reeve look alike. And use a different costume. I didn't like the bacon-red cape Routh wore in his film.
KnightWing
No he doesn't. He added nothing to the role. In all fairness, he didn't have much chance to do anything, considering that the entire movie was a continuation of the Reeve-saga. If he played Superman his own way, it'd be different. That being said, I would definitely prefer someone new.
slothian
He does deserve another go, but he won't get one because this is another continuity.
SuaveStar
No he doesn't. He added nothing to the role. In all fairness, he didn't have much chance to do anything, considering that the entire movie, bar Kevin Spacey, was a joke.

You Know Who
I thought Spacey was shit too Sir, you are ! He was given mostly shit to work with and he failed to make it look like chocolate. His Luthor was somewhat like the one in the DCAU but was severely compromised by the fact that it was also a continuation of Hackman's Luthor. KnightWing
So basically you just didn't like that he was the Hackman Luthor and not the comics/DCAU Luthor?
You Know Who
So basically you just didn't like that he was the Hackman Luthor and not the comics/DCAU Luthor? It wasn't so much that. Hackman's Luthor was somewhat entertaining, at least in the first film. The problem with Spacey's is that it was schizophrenic in that at times it was the Hackman Luthor but at others one more like his incarnation in the comics and the DCAU and the two aspects of the character clashed with one another. KnightWing
I thought they blended pretty perfectly. I like him better than Hackman, actually.
You Know Who
I thought they blended pretty perfectly. I like him better than Hackman, actually. To each his own, but it could have been so much better. Did we need more motherfucking kryptonite and another motherfucking real estate scheme? To keep this thread on topic, what would y'all think of the other reporters at the Daily Planet (i.e. Cat Grant, Steve Lombard, Ron Troupe) being in the next movie in addition to Lois, Perry, and Jimmy? KnightWing
Too many side characters in a new reboot might be too much. It'd be great to have them in there, but if they're going to spend a lot of time establishing the world of Superman for new audiences, it might be overload. Molly
Yeah, we'll get Lois and Perry. Hell, Jimmy is kind of iffy, actually. Just because he's almost a "Robin"ish figure.
KnightWing
I think Jimmy works great as a comedic contrast to super-serious Lois and Perry. Also, he's more of a friend for Clark at the Planet than anyone else.
